Jeffrey Abell, Ph.D.
My main research interests are in determining the distributions of carbon, nitrogen and oxygen in a range of ocean environments and interpreting those distributions to obtain knowledge of the magnitude and variability of key biogeochemical processes. I utilize high-precision seawater analytical techniques to obtain measurements of carbon, nutrients and oxygen. I also utilize sediment reactors to study the kinetics of oxidation-reduction reactions in marine and freshwater environments (with particular emphasis on denitrification and sulfate reduction).
